Code of Conduct

PVYSA Parent and Player Code of Conduct 

Youth sports programs play an important role in promoting the physical, social and emotional development of all participants.  It is therefore essential for parents and players to encourage and embrace the values of good sportsmanship, fairness, respect and self-control.  Please read over this with your child.


PLAYERS 

All players participating in PVYSA shall… 

  • Make every effort to attend all practices and games and arrive on time 
  • Demonstrate good sportsmanship and encourage it from fellow players 
  • Play by the rules of the game 
  • View playing soccer as an opportunity to learn and have fun 
  • Be respectful toward other players, coaches, referees and spectators 
  • Never argue or complain about referees’ calls or decisions 
  • Maintain an even temperament and resist retaliation 
  • Give 100% effort at practice, and during games 
  • Refrain from using unnecessary roughness against a fellow player 
  • Not partake in illegal drug, alcohol or tobacco use 

PARENTS/GUARDIANS 

ALL parents interacting with PVYSA shall… 

  • Make every effort to drop off and pick up players at designated practice and game times and will notify the coach when he/she cannot attend 
  • Demonstrate good sportsmanship and self-discipline and encourage it in their children and their fellow players 
  • Be respectful toward coaches, referees, your child, other parents and their children 
  • Make athletic participation for their child and others a positive, fun experience 
  • Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from youth sports activities 
  • Not harass, abuse or berate the referee during or after the match 
  • Not enter the field of play with out the referee’s permission 
  • Attempt to minimize the pressure of competition and place the emotional and physical well being of players ahead of a desire to win 
  • Attempt to get involved with the organization and promote the game in a positive way 
  • Alert coaches of any players’ health conditions 
  • Refrain from coaching and refereeing “from the sidelines” 

PVYSA Parent and Player Code of Conduct Acknowledgment 

We (parents and players) have read and hereby agree to abide by the PVYSA code of conduct.  We also understand that failure to do so is subject to disciplinary action, including but not limited to the following in any order or combination, at the discretion of the PVYSA Board:  

  • Oral or written warning  
  • Suspension or immediate ejection from any PVYSA event  
  • Suspension from multiple PVYSA events  
  • Season suspension 
  • Permanent termination from some or all PVYSA events  
  • Notification of and request for support by local law enforcement  

Note: No reimbursement of fees will be made due to the dismissal of a player from a game or the club for not adhering to this contract as outlined.
